To Give Nasal Spray Naloxone

1) Call 911
Call 911 and put your phone on speaker. NOTE: Both the person(s) seeking help and the overdose victim are protected from drug prosecution if they cooperate with law enforcement.
2) Prepare the naloxone
Remove the caps separating the narcan from the applicator, and screw the two together.
3) Connect the MAD
Remove the cap from the applicator and screw the Medication Atomizing Device (MAD) into the applicator.
4) Administer a half dose into one nostril
Place the narcan into one nostril and administer half of the dose. Wait 2 minutes.
5) If needed, administer the rest
If after 2 minutes there has been no change in the patient’s condition, place the narcan in the opposite nostril and administer the other half dose. Wait another 2 minutes.
6) If needed, begin CPR
If after 2 more minutes there has been no change in the patient’s condition, begin CPR.
